How To Play Craps
Craps might seem a little bit intimidating at first, but our experts have simplified the Craps rules to make it easier for beginners to understand. Craps is one of the most popular casino games in the world and is played all over the world. The entertainment factor, variety of betting options and fast pace of the game makes Craps almost as fun to watch as it is to play.
If you are new to the game, here is a brief guide on how to play craps.
Basic Craps rules and gameplay
In a game of Crap, the player has to take a turn being the shooter of the dice and you can also pass when your turn comes up. This is a dice game, so be prepared on how to roll a dice in case your turn comes up. When your turn comes up, the stickman (one of the four staffs), will present you 4 or more dice. After choosing two dices(which you want to throw), the stickman takes back the rest of the dices. Keep in mind that you have to handle all the dices in one hand to avoid cheating.
When your turn comes up, you need to throw the dice across the table, so that it hits the opposite wall and bounces off. If it falls off the table, you have to roll again. You need to toss the dice across the table as the Craps table is fairly large (unlike a board game, where rolling the dice is enough).
You will find that there is a button called ‘buck’ with the word ‘OFF’ written in the middle of the Craps table. The game will not begin until and unless the shooter places a bet on the pass line. Even if you are not the shooter, you will be able to place a bet on the pass line although that is not compulsory. The first roll of the shooter is also known as ‘come out’ roll and it is the most basic type of Craps bet.
Now, this craps rule is important – if the shooter comes up with a total number of 7 or 11, then, the bet wins even money and everyone else who placed their bets on the passing line wins. But, if the shooter comes up with 2,3 or 12 on the come-out roll, then, everyone loses. If the shooter comes up with any number other than the mentioned numbers, then, that number is fixed as the point.
The shooter has to continuously re-roll the dice in the point round and try to roll the same number before rolling out a 7. If the point rolls out again, then, the same shooter will roll the come-out roll in the next round. Instead of the point, if the shooter manages to roll a 7, then, the round ends which is known as ‘seven out’. The dice then passes to the next player who becomes the new shooter of the game.
Types of bets
We have already discussed the pass line bet. Let’s get familiar with the other craps rules and bets of the game.
Don’t pass the Line Bet
This bet goes against the ability of the shooter to roll a number before rolling a 7. If 7 and 11 come out, you lose and if 2 and 3 pop up, you win.
You win if the shooter rolls out a 7 or 11 on the next roll after the come-out roll. You lose if the next roll comes out to be 2,3 or 12.
Don’t Come Bet
This is just the opposite of Come Bet.
Players can bet on a single number. If your selected number is rolled before a 7, you win, In the shooter’s round, players can choose to increase, decrease or remove a place bet at any time.
You win if 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12 is rolled out.
